When I started out, I was consuming so many courses on marketing, website building, funnels, all sorts of things. But, something that I didn't understand for a really long time was how important mindset was.
What does mindset mean? It means the way we think that defines our next actions. At times it can push us on, but it can also hold us back.
How to have a 6 figure mindset
In business, we often see people who do everything strategically right, but they just can't get themselves to really
- show up
- be authentic
- have their soul in their business
Very often this is due to their mindset. It's very difficult for them to sell and to charge what they know they are worth, given all their education or their years of experience.
Mindset Triggers
Here are five main mindset triggers that I see happening over and over again:
Imposter syndrome
Imposter syndrome happens when you feel underqualified. You might have 10 or 20 courses, diplomas, certifications under your belt, and yet you still don't feel like an expert. It can make you cringe to call yourself an expert or to charge like an expert.
That is something that is very real because we are told from the beginning that we shouldn't brag. That becomes ingrained in our brain and holds us back.
The mindset work here would be to investigate what is triggering you, when it’s holding you back and how to overcome that. This doesn't mean that it won't exist anymore once you've addressed it, but in the future, you will be aware of it. You'll be able to say: “I know that it's here, but I'm not going to let it hold me back!” You will be able to take that next step or to investigate whether you actually agree with it or not.
Charging and selling
Unfortunately, sometimes we choose our pricing because we compare. We go to other coaches, and we see what they’re charging. Here's the thing, nobody is like you.
Everyone can get all the information they want from the internet; the difference is
- how you teach it
- how you create space
- how you speak
- what your own experiences are
So, comparing doesn't make sense. In order to create your packages with integrity, you need to know your numbers. You need to know how much you need to make for a living. When you actually know what you need, you can create packages and structures around it.
Being okay with making money
Being in love with money doesn't have anything to do with you as a person. Money is just a tool. It's energy, it's something that you use the way you want to give you freedom. Sometimes, it's really a lot of work to come to terms with that and to fall in love with it and to feel good about it. Once we get that it is so much easier to grow to six figures.
Time
You want to use your time as wisely as you can. Sometimes we believe that more time spent working equals more money. That is not always the case, especially in the coaching industry. Time in the coaching industry doesn’t work as it does in the corporate world. It's not how many hours you work with the client, it's how can you transform them. How can you save them time while working with them?
Revenue and Profit
It's really important to understand the difference between revenue and profit. Profit is what you have after your business expenses. You can even restructure your business and make sure you have profit first and your business expenses are never higher so that your profit stays the same or can grow.
This is important because you cannot start to give back before you actually have the resources to live a comfortable life yourself.
